Hello! And welcome back!! I hope your summers were filled with great memories, that I can not wait to hear all about. My name is Miss. Katie Corbett, and I will be your new guidance counselor. I am thrilled to join Martel Elementary and I know this is going to be an amazing school year!
First, I would like to share a bit about myself. Originally, I’m from southern Maine, I moved to Portland after finishing my undergraduate degree at the University of Maine at Farmington. I worked as a preschool teacher for six years as I completed my masters in counseling through the University of Southern Maine. I enjoy anything outdoors, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and snowboarding, as well as things that appeal to my creative side; coloring, painting, and home projects are all big parts of my down time!
This year, I will be going into classrooms weekly, teaching a variety of lessons for each grade. These lessons will focus on social skills, behavioral skills, friendships, bullying, self-esteem, personal safety, emotional management, problem solving, and empathy. I will also be inviting your child to lunch, at least once, throughout the school year. They will join me and a couple other students for their lunch period, as a way to get to know them a little better outside the classroom.
My office is located in the basement, room 007, and my door is always open. I can be reached by phone, 207-795-4130, as well as email, firstname.lastname@example.org. My hopes for this school year is to have all students engage in fun and successful experiences. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, thoughts, or concerns you may have!
